Starring a portly Russell Crowe as the leader of a motley crew of warriors looking to pillage a village of its fabled gold in feudal China, RZA's martial arts homage is not in the same league as Tarantino's cine-literate pastiches, although its scatter-shot style has its own base pleasures, and the all-important fight scenes are choreographed with aplomb.
