Dictator, The
Aroview: Sacha Baron Cohen returns with this sweet 'n' vulgar satire as a ruthless Middle Eastern tyrant who's diplomatic visit to New York doesn't go according to plan.
Toning down the bold offensive displayed in mock-documentaries BORAT and BRUNO, this instead plays as a straight comedy with its familiar conventions and contrivances, with Peter Sellers' persona being an obvious reference point. The political gags often work better than the politically-incorrect ones, with Cohen's trademark comedy of 'insensitivity' this time stemming from his absurdly unlikely love interest in a New York organic grocer.
