New York: A Documentary Film

USA 1999-2003, 740 minutes
Dir. Ric Burns
Genres: Documentary / History

Aroview: Grand and compelling PBS portrait of New York City in the vein of Ken Burns's fulsome documentaries (incidentally, directed by younger brother Ric) combines rich visuals with the electric social history of the iconic metropolis. Originally broadcast in the late 90s, the series was later updated to cover both the latter half of the 20th century, and the impact of the September 11 attacks on the city.

Eight episodes across five discs:
- The Country and the City (1609-1825)
- Order and Disorder (1825-1865)
- Sunshine and Shadow (1865-1898)
- The Power and the People (1898-1914)
- Cosmopolis (1914-1931)
- The City of Tomorrow (1931-1940)
- The City and the World (1945-Present)
- The Center of the World.
