Aroview: A strange hybrid of neo-noir gestures and the contemporary human condition, with dough-faced Michael Shannon (perfect as a Bogart stand in) playing an anachronistically-styled private eye hired to shadow a man whose background, it turns out, has something to do with 9/11.

While it never quite finds the right balance between serious introspection and gumshoe detective tropes, Shannon is a highly watchable character actor who picks the film up, even when it drags its heels in murky pastiche.

4 stars (Very Good) Beautifully composed, somewhat muted and almost meditative film with an ironic slant. More than one "Missing Person" in evidence here. Laconic and troubled Michael Shannon excels in tailor made role. A strangely fascinating movie. ~Anon
