Cute and confident premise adds some fresh notes to the traditions of the French comedy-of-deception, with Duris never just a pretty face and the gap-toothed Ms. Paradis (Mrs. Johnny Depp) bringing a different flavour to the time-honoured role of the skeptical love interest. As is customary in rom-coms, the set-up is more interesting and amusing than the inevitable payoff, but these are characters who eventually - and satisfyingly - earn their romantic fate.
