Remember the Night

Aroview: Preston Sturges scripted this forgotten yuletide gem, about an assistant D.A. (MacMurray) who, feeling sorry for a glamorous jewel thief (Stanwyck), lets her spend Christmas with him instead of in the jail cell she's consigned too.

The initial screwball premise develops into something far more moving and poignant than expected, deserving of at least the same attention as that other holiday classic, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
