Damned, The
Aroview: Dir. Joseph Losey’s bleak but brilliant movie about a breed of radioactive children groomed to withstand a nuclear apocalypse is one of best British sci-fi films ever made. An early Hammer production, this shrewdly incorporates ‘teddy boy’ youth culture and deft character studies into its grim doomsday drama.

4 stars (Very Good) This is a bit of a lost classic, with some very topical themes of its time, and it stands the test of time as one of the most interesting and untypical Hammer productions. The sense of paranoia and its bleak Weymouth backdrops are really extraordinary. ~Hammerscope

4 stars (Very Good) Oliver Reed (in a suit!) leads a gang of leather-clad toughs. Catchy title song "Black leather"! The film veers into the dark world of secret government experiments on children in an underground base. Still highly topical. ~Rowlf
