My Year Without Sex
Aroview: The director of LOOK BOTH WAYS offers a closely observed portrait of an Australian family in this tender-funny comedy of marriage, abstinence, and domestic chaos.
Recovering from a near-fatal brain aneurysm, every-mum Sacha Horler is forced into celibacy after she is medically advised not to engage in any vigorous physical activity. The year that follows is broken down into twelve monthly chapters, with her sublimated energies pouring into the exhaustive duties of wife-and-motherhood. Though a little airy and episodic, those with broods will especially identify with many of the situations and in-jokes, while the strong Antipodean suburban flavour will keep a broader Kiwi audience smiling in recognition.
