Aroview: Dir. Ozu once again explores the subtleties of Japanese family life, this time drawing our attention to the struggles of those in arranged marriages through the story of Takeo (Kogure), a spirited housewife bored with her stuffy reality.

Regardless of its critical eye, this ends up being a perfectly measured, playful celebration of the simple things in life, with an unusually dynamic camera a notable deviation from Ozu's usual preference for the static vignette.
