Starfleet (TV Series)

aka: X Bomber
Japan / UK 1985, 780 minutes
Dir. Go Nagai
Genres: Television, Science Fiction, Cult

Topics: Puppetry.

Aroview: Heavily influenced by Gerry Anderson's supermarionation series, this sci-fi Japanese production from manga creater Go Nagai kicks off when an alien battle cruiser attacks 'Earth Force Command', and Earth must rely on the untested X Bomber, a powerful fighting ship built on the moon.

Often touted as Japan's answer to Star Wars, this 24 part epic has been dubbed over for a British audience. A notable deviation from Anderson's puppetry is the use of rods as opposed to strings; consequently all the puppets are only ever shot from the waist up.

Features the entire 24 episodes spread across 4 discs.
