Mississippi Mermaid
France 1969, 123 minutes
Dir. Francois Truffaut
In French with English subtitles
Rating: [R16]
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Drama
Aroview: Tobacco baron Belmondo sends for a mail-order bride, gets the ravishing Deneuve. Too bad she's a con-artist with an inescapable past. Decidedly dark for Truffaut, although too gorgeously shot to make it as a film noir.

2 stars (Good Try) Although never totally convincing, the first half of the screenplay was more interesting than the second. ~Tubbs
