Super High Me

USA 2007, 94 minutes
Dir. Michael  Blieden
Genres: Documentary, Comedy

Topics: Drugs & Alcohol.

Aroview: Stand-up comedian Doug Benson decides to smoke (and eat) marijuana for 30 days straight and chronicle the side effects in this SUPER SIZE ME style doco with pot replacing Macca's.

Through two 30 day halves - one cold turkey, the other non-stop blunted - Benson undergoes a series of physical and psychological aptitude tests, relating the results on a nightly basis to stand-up audiences. Despite a few lame-duck jokes for the frat-crowd, this is funnier than you'd expect, with an array of quality comedians sharing their views on the project with the consistently witty (and bloodshot-eyed) Benson. Less successful is a half-hearted attempt to engage with the battle over the legalisation of medical marijuana in California, though given the amount of weed intake, and the high rate of winning humour, Benson can safely be excused.
