Aroview: Warped amorous comedy focused on a fed-up fella in the midst of a mid-life breakdown (played by Martin Freeman of THE OFFICE fame) who meets the perfect woman in his dreams and gets obsessively involved in a fantasy world indistinct from reality.
Debut for Gwyneth Paltrow’s brother Jake takes several stabs at Woody Allen territory, but isn’t nearly as sharp when it comes to puncturing middle-aged male delusions. Lights on some pretty intriguing ideas about the overlap between dreams and reality, however, and is considerably lifted by the dependable comic smarts of Pegg and Freeman. Fans of Michel Gondry might just find themselves revelling in the reverie.
