Dead Girl, The
Aroview: A superb ensemble cast give rich life to this exceptional drama that interlinks the unsettling stories of five women connected to the discovery of a young murder victim.
Less interested in the crime itself than the ripple-effect of emotional damage, the drama explores the frailty of happiness with more than a hint of gothic foreboding. Sombre in tone yet never earnest or depressing, writer-director Karen Moncrieff (a former soap actress, no less!) improves on her impressive debut, BLUE CAR, with a film that matches her refined script with genuine visual flair and, above all, a uniformly talented cast who perform with total conviction.
