Chumscrubber, The

Aroview: A sadsack teenager (Bell) living in a sterile new suburb in Southern California discovers his best friend has committed suicide, an event which seems to cause few ripples among preoccupied family and acquaintances, except for a trio of delinquents he was supplying 'feelgood pills'.

Convincing that Bell knows the whereabouts of a stash of drugs they kidnap his brother, only to abduct the wrong kid, in an increasingly hapless series of plot twists. While only moderately original, this tale of teenage alienation and petty crime is blessed with a certain measure of cock-eyed satire and loads of stars in supporting roles.
