She's the Man

Aroview: Spunky, if rather uncomfortable transposition of Shakespeare’s 'Twelfth Night' into the realm of American teen comedy, about a talented female soccer player (Byne), who, after the girls' team is disbanded, disguises herself as her twin brother in order to get on the prep-school team.

Although Byne's cross-dressing masquerade is not as convincing as the film would have you believe, the enthusiastic young cast bring a real zing to the multiple complications of the story, inevitably revolving around mistaken identity and youthful romance. Some quite admirable onfield soccer moves also lend a layer of excitement and committment.
