Aroview: An evocative series of linked vignettes set around the memories of playwright Ruben Santiago-Hudson, about a New York boarding house in the 1950s which was a local gathering place for socialising, music and the odd spot of intrigue.
Adapted for TV by veteran Broadway dir. Wolfe, this rarely slides into sentiment and mostly succeeds in conveying the joy, despair and sheer variety of the closely interknit lives of a black American neighbourhood.
