Aroview: A well-bred British entertainment for children which fuses the traditional likes of MARY POPPINS with the current wave of gothic fantasy (Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket, et al).
Unable to discipline his six children, widower Colin Firth unwittingly enlists the magical help of Nanny McPhee, whose brusk manner and grotesque appearance belies a kind heart and generous wisdom. A pet project for Emma Thompson, who penned the screenplay adaptation and plays the memorable Ms. McPhee herself, this has all the hallmarks of her exuberance and experience, if slightly hemmed-in by what seem to be budget compromises.
