Aroview: The famed conductor Sir Simon Rattle here presents an accessible guide to the challenging classical music traditions of the 20th century.

Structuring his exploration thematically, Rattle utilises archival footage to give historical background, but achieves his best moments simply sitting at the piano and directly demonstrating the innovations of composers such as Schonberg, Mahler, Stravinsky, Varese, reich, Boulex, Messian, Cage, Gershwin and many others. Also contains many performances by the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, with Rattle at the helm.
