Aroview: An original and arresting work from Hungary, which explores, burrows into and juxtaposes the varied environs of a small rural village - plants, insects, fish, animals and humans all treated alike as the observed flora and fauna of this corner of the Earth.

Replacing dialogue almost entirely with onamatopaic sounds and rustles, dir. Palfi's camera assumes worm and birds-eye perspectives, even switching to x-ray vision at one stage to examine the interior of one 'character'. Unified by a kind of mordant barn-yard humour, eventually a 'storyline' of sorts emerges, involving murder and conspiracy, although the eccentricities of the style remain the film's primary pleasure.
