Aroview: The collective aspirations and angst of a group of attractive New Yorkers, all loosely connected to the theatre and art world, collide in showers of dramatic sparks, in this worthy adaptation of the one-act stageplay by Amy Fox.
The central character is a controlling stage actor (Glenn Close) whose offstage passions are entangled in a weave of other relationships and artistic ideals. Around her, other actors, family, and assorted hangers-on contend with revelations and chains of assorted consequences, some predictable, others nicely tricky. Perhaps a little hampered by prosaic direction, this gains strength from some high-quality writing.
