Complete Talking Heads, The (TV Miniseries)

Aroview: Much-feted 1980s TV series comprising a series of six stage monologues by renowned playwright Alan Bennett, devised to depict various suffering souls of middle-class England including a vicar's wife, a compulsive letter-writer, and a lonely pensioner.

From this seemingly spartan concept, Bennett constructs six vivid, flawed and thoroughly believable characters performed with moving eloquence by a superb cast. This DVD set also includes the equally strong, but darker 1998 reprise, in which the same characters return for more mediatations on the big issues and how it is possible to exist in the meshes of the modern world.
