Rating: [Exempt]
Genres: Television, Documentary, Drama / War

Aroview: A genuine filmic curiousity, this meticulous historical fantasy proposes that Nazi Germany invaded Britain in 1940 - leading to a lengthy period of resistance and collaboration, dramatically centred around the experiences of a young nurse.

Created by film historian Brownlow (then barely out of his teens) over almost a decade of no-budget weekend film shoots, this features much authentic-looking fake newsreel footage and even included scenes of real British white supremacists venting their anti-Semitic hatred. Controversial in its day, it proved a major inspiration for dir. Peter Watkins and remains a hypnotic 'alternate history'.
