Game of Their Lives, The

Aroview: Based on the true story of how a hurriedly-assembled US soccer team beat England 1-0 in a 1950 World Cup match in Brazil, an upset which astonished sports fans around the world.

Rhys-Davies plays the coach of the ragtag team of players who get their game together and beat the world's best in front of a packed stadium. Unfortunately, the filmmakers take a simplistically broad and sentimental approach to the story - and while the treatment is solid enough, one wishes for a more sophisticated script (and more soccer!)
