Aroview: Rarely are ballet films quite so dramatically satisfying - if still laden with a few cliches - than this tale of two friends reuniting, one a successful dancer (Bancroft), the other a housewife (Maclaine) who gave away her chances. Accesses a rich vein of middle-aged female angst, topped off with some truly magnificent dancing.

2 stars (Good Try) Shirley Mac and Anne B are very fine actresses but they don't always look comfortable in this which doesn't say much for the screenplay outside of the dance sequences. ~Tubbs
