Aroview: Another exemplary, detailed effort from dir. Hsiao-Hsien, this time following a couple of small time grafters trying to put together 'the big deal' in the murky underworld of Taipei, in a plot reminiscent of MEAN STREETS.

Shot in long patient takes which subtly disclose the relationships and inner menace of the characters' predicament, this is bound together by the humid visual backdrop of Taiwan and the dense scenario of crime, corruption and street-level capitalism.
