Aroview: Mind-boggling samurai film series combines a 1970s taste for heroic bloodshed with a strongly Japanese sexploitation angle.

Featuring the original ZATOICHI star Katsu, as a rogue policeman who tortures himself using the 'iron penis technique' so as to render his member as a lethal interrogation tool, especially on women (!) Shockingly un-PC this plays like a period DIRTY HARRY with touches of softcore porn and a funky soundtrack, adding up to one heck of a strange artifact. The first two films in the series are particularly strong, the final outing sags a little.

Sword of Justice (1972)
The Snare (1973)
Who's Got the Gold? (1974)
