Mindhunters

Aroview: Mindlessly contrived suspense yarn, gains satisfactions from the sheer loopiness of its central tale of seven trainee FBI 'profilers', who must detect who among them is a serial killer, when they start being killed one by one while on a training exercise.

Set on a secret island base, this devises several grisly moments, its most memorable twists involving the leading stars being surprisingly 'offed'. Dir. Harlin (LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, DEEP BLUE SEA) once more showcases his talent for entertaining schlock effect, though can't quite hold his narrative intact to the end, perhaps accounting for the film's two-year delay in being released by Miramax.
