Werewolf Boy, AWerewolf Boy, A (2012)
5 stars (Exceptional) Don't be fooled by the title, this is a romance & a real tearjerker.
Spy KidsSpy Kids (2001)
4 stars (Very Good) Wholesome family action movie, but some of the stuff in it is pretty dark. Leans toward "zany" & slapstick. If it wasn't Robert Rodriguez I probably wouldn't have liked it as much.
Toy LoveToy Love (2003)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Whimsical. All the characters are both interesting and obnoxious.
Master, TheMaster, The (2012)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) Long. Good performances, but everyone's playing to type.
Only Lovers Left AliveOnly Lovers Left Alive (2013)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) Stunning, a pleasure to watch. Not much happens.
Mad MaxMad Max (1979)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Melodramatic, a bit camp, riddled with cinematic cliches, very weird. Some kind of perverse genius but I don't know who I'd recommend it to. Not set in "the future", curiously.
Master, TheMaster, The (1994)
4 stars (Very Good) Standard kung fu movie, very well done. I like the cultural elements highlighting a foreigner's experience in the US. Why are all bad guys in these movies such unmitigated arseholes?
I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney StoryI Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story (2014)
4 stars (Very Good) Comprehensive. Really lovely.
Jodorowsky's DuneJodorowsky's Dune (2014)Aro Favourite
3 stars (Good Enough) Fascinating, although with zero cinematography to show off (since the film was never made) it's occasionally a little dry.
Turbo KidTurbo Kid (2015)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) As an 80s pastiche & nostalgia trip (including the stolid, dated narrative) it's brilliantly executed.
