Aroview: Dreamy, yet scuzzily unkempt biopic of 70s porn superstar John Holmes (Val Kilmer doing the honours) and his role in the 1981 'Wonderland' drug murders.
Aiming for a darker tone than the 'unofficial' biopic BOOGIE NIGHTS, this revels in a busy visual brew, with an excellent cast relishing their lowlife roles. Remaining undecided in assessing Holmes' role in this sleazy underworld affair, it presents various possible versions of events (a la RASHOMON), finally drawing most power from Kilmer's subtle portrayal of desperate minor celebrity, hustling his daily bread with vacant charm.

2 stars (Good Try) Depicts a washed-up drug-ridden cocaine addict, John Holmes, at the turn of the 80's. No longer in demand by the adult studios he turns to crime to fuel his habit, and becomes embroiled in a vicious multiple murder. Is really nothing to rave about.~GenXGirl
