Aro Favourite Parting Glances

USA 1986, 90 minutes
Dir. Bill Sherwood
Rating: [PG]
Genres: Drama, Comedy / LGBT, Independent

Aroview: A gay classic and pioneering film of the independent movement, this is widely enjoyed as a truthful picture of gay life and relationships and also as an authentic glimpse of the youth scene in mid-80s New York.

Concerning the last 24 hours of a couple's relationship before one leaves for an overseas assignment, true motives are revealed while dealing with their circle of eccentric friends, including a close friend living with AIDS. Rich in small, resonant moments both joyful and painful, this accomplished film is roundly well acted and marks the first major role of future indie icon, Steve Buscemi.
