Aroview: As one might expect from the writer of TAXI DRIVER, dir. Schrader's debut is a gritty, tough-minded drama of macho ethics, set in the grinding world of the Detroit auto-assembly industry. Finding little room for a life between the Company and the Union, bar-room pals Harvey Keitel, Yaphet Kotto and Richard Pryor (in a riveting performance) turn reluctantly to crime, with disastrous results.
