Pippin: His Life and Times

USA 1981, 112 minutes
Dir. David Sheehan
Genres: Drama / Musical

Aroview: TV movie adapted from the 1972 musical, itself an adaptation of the Bob Fosse Broadway production. Music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson.

Tells the story of Pippin, a young prince who sets out on an adventure to search for the meaning of life, on the goading of a mysterious lead figure in a circus troupe. Plenty of philosophising around war and religion, and Pippin's constant adolescent horniness reminding us that this is, after all, still a Bob Fosse musical.
