“An agile piece of work that’s anchored by extraordinary performances from Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn, Una maintains its grip even when swinging a bit too hard for the fences.”~Indiewire
Aroview: Compelling adaptation of David Harrower's two-hand play "Blackbird" that maturely navigates the thin and morally sensitive line between forbidden romance and abuse, and its longer-term consequences.
The "stage" is set fifteen years after the relationship between a 13-year-old girl (Mara, who is terrific) and a man in his thirties (Mendelsohn) ended in disgrace and imprisonment. Since released and living with a new identity, he is finally confronted by his still-devastated ex-lover and victim.

		- 2 stars (Good Try) Strong material. Strong leads. Frustrating direction: the play's built-in claustrophobia is diminished by over-filming and over-editing, presumably meant to make it "more cinematic", but ironically forestalling full engagement. ~fairbrother
