The story lines are relatively familiar, involving a small-time drug dealer with literary aspirations, a former rugby star estranged from his wife, and the misfortunes of a mild-mannered cab driver, but there is a compassionate, thoughtful tone to the melodrama, and a refreshing refusal to artificially tie these disparate threads together.
