Aroview: Local prodigy's magnum opus may well be the last word in zombie film. What begins as a nervous romance for naive young Lionel soon turns into a blood-drenched orgy of limbs and lawnmowers, as '50s Wellington falls victim to a hideous virus. The period details are spot-on, as is Tim Balme's (award) winning performance in the main role.
Aro Video's apology to the purists:
Due to theft, Our current rental copy of the film is not the full 107 minute uncensored version (although our 97 minute US cut is more vastly liberal than an 85 minute version that they tried to sell on home video in the 1990's)

2 stars (Good Try) Not quite as great a B-grade splatter as 'Bad Taste', although there are a few cringy and memorable moments, and the occasional Wellington backdrop is a nice reminder of Jackson's more humble beginnings as weekend film-maker. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) ~JohnSpecialK
4 stars (Very Good) Blood-splattered horror masterpiece is a gory good time. ~Anon
