Aroview: 1950s Christchurch is the novelty star of this MGM prestige picture set entirely in Canterbury, New Zealand, with landmarks such as the Christchurch cathedral and a suspicious-looking Avon River (actually filmed on a soundstage!) making cameo appearances.

Earnest wartime melodrama stars Jean Simmons, Joan Fontaine, and a young Sandra Dee as Kiwi sisters in waiting for their conscripted blokes to return from overseas duty.
