Chronicle of an Escape
Aroview: An Argentinian goalkeeper is kidnapped and falsely imprisoned as a revolutionary in this gripping account of the “Buenos Aires, 1977” incident.
Employing visceral camera work to reenact events following the capture of the film’s protagonist – one of thousands incarcerated under General Jorge Rafael Videla’s right-wing regime – this hits hard as a gritty, in-your-face prison movie, and although lacking the social or political context through which a greater sense of story would have been able to be achieved, the suffering and resilience of the men wrongly detained is delivered powerfully and without sentiment.
