The candy-saturated production design, eccentric humour, and a sweet cast headed by our very own screen darling Keisha Castle-Hughes work well enough, though overall this offbeat variant on the eternal dilemma of fitting in seems to uncomfortably skirt the line between quirksome kids fare and heavy melodrama.
