Aroview: Final part in dir. Arrabal's cinematic trilogy (see VIVA LA MUERTE and I WILL WALK LIKE A CRAZY HORSE) is set amidst the carnage of the Spanish Civil War in the town of Guernica, which was notoriously bombed by the Nazis.
Employing a range of surrealistic devices, the main plot concerns a family of aristocrats who are assaulted by various political factions (including the town dwarves), before a final bloodbath at the hands of the fascists. Despite this description, the film is perhaps less graphic than Arrabal's other work, notwithstanding his propensity for outrageous blasphemous imagery.
