Murder on a Sunday Morning
Aroview: Winner of the 2002 Oscar for Best Documentary, this riveting coverage of the murder of a tourist in Florida and the inept (even vindictive) prosecution of a 15-year old black boy, arrested on the flimsiest of evidence by rascist policemen.
Thankfully, the public defender turns out to be a quietly obsessive worker who finds increasing numbers of holes in the police case, while also landing a serious fight with a system which seems bent on convicting the innocent. Dir. by the maker of THE STAIRCASE, this again takes an effective 'outsider's' view of the US legal system, and while perhaps a little overlong, is hard to turn away from.
