Aroview: Peter Jackson's colossal remake lavishes one of the cinema's greatest legends in 21st century technology and ratchets up the emotional stakes to satisfying, if not quite iconic, effect.
Apart from Kong himself, as a living-breathing-thinking fantasy creation, audience's remain divided on just what are the highlights, but for us it's the sustained tension of arriving at Skull Island, and a terrific cast, led by a luminous Naomi Watts who importantly holds her own against the oversized main attraction. That it's a labour of love for the director is evident in the astounding details throughout, even if at times the monster production threatens to topple under its own towering bulk.

3 stars (Good Enough) Well cast, breath-taking special effects (definitely one for the big screen) version of a classic. More than just good, but not astoundingly good as so many have come to expect from Jackson's previous creations.~GenXGirl
