Robot Stories

USA 2002, 85 minutes
Dir. Greg Pak
Rating: [M]
Genres: Science Fiction / Futurism

Aroview: Four tales concerning the future interraction between humans and robots are explored with effective melodrama and cinematic crafting by Asian-American dir. Pak.

Part 1 concerns a businesswoman's difficulties with a needy robot baby; Part 2 is about a woman who tried to connect with her comatose son with his robot toy collection; Part 3 is set in a robot office environment, where an iPerson (played by Pak) develops feelings for others; Part 4 has a man about to die and unsure whether to whether release his consciousness into a supercomputer.

Although a little earnest at times, viewers will be gratified by the dir.'s economical handling, never padding his ideas with unnecessary narrative, while presenting a coolly-fashioned series of future worlds.
